Alumni of PSBB, Arjun Vasudev dies in accident

Arjun Vasudev, a 19 year old resident of Virugambakkam died in a road accident near Ram Theatre on Arcot Road, on March 27. He was a Ist year VisCom student at Loyola College.

Arjun was heading to his college on his bike at around noontime. It is said the bike skidded off a sandy dump and Arjun was hit by a car and in this impact, the boy was dragged along a few yards on the road.
Apparently, nobody around thought the injuries were so grievous to cause death. There were not many external injuries either.
He was taken to Vijaya Health Centre by his friends who were called to the spot. The ambulance that was called took 25 minutes to reach the point, people said. Even as doctors began investigations, Arjun succumbed to major internal injuries, it is said.
Arjun was a popular face in the K K Nagar neighbourhood – he was a PSBB School student till last year. He held posts in the school students’ council.
A talented guitar player, he has performed in various bands. The news of the accident and his death spread quickly among his friends and the PSBB school students. Many of them landed at the hospital on hearing the sad news.
On Sunday, there was clearer information about the accident. Family members said that a MTC bus had ‘nudged’ Arjun who was on his bike and run over him on Arcot Road near Vijaya Hospital. That was around 12 noon. An ambulance rushed the badly injured boy to the hospital where he passed away close to 3 p.m.
Traffic Police at T. Nagar are handling this case. As of March 31, this reporter could not make contact with the officer in charge.
Arjun’s death has shocked dozens of his friends, both alumni of PSBB where he studied as well as young musicians. Those close to him do not even want to talk about this accident. They can’t imagine that Arjun is no more.
Arjun’s space on FaceBook is flooded with messages of shock, disbelief and sadness. His PSBB alumni are recalling days spent with him.
Arjun was known to be a passionate footballer in school. But he created a bigger buzz as a guitarist on the music circuit more so when the city saw a rise in the bands at the school level and their performances grew.
It is not known if his friends at school and in the music circuit plan a memorial/tribute meet in memory of Arjun.
On April 1, news came in that Arjun’s friends do plan to have a concert in his memory. Plans are being discussed on Arjun’s Facebook space and all those who wish to connect with developments can do so by logging in there.
The show is planned for May but yet unconfirmed. Many of his friends are saying that action must be taken against the MTC bus driver who they charge had driven rashly and was the cause of Arjun’s death.

I know arjun as my brother’s friend. my brother was in hospital and has been with the family since then. please do not publish such rubbish in your paper. he was hit by a very rashly driven 27c bus and noone attended to him upon getting hit. how can injuries due to a bus hit not be serious??!! u might as well stop publishing the paper rather than putting up bogus information

arjun was my close friend… true to the words published.. i dont want to talk about the accident.. he’s still there for us.. in every way.. i refuse to believe my pal is no more.. cause he’s in the very smile he wanted to see on my face… the fact still lies that the rashly driven bus has been the cause for my dear friends demise… please do openly publish this fact… atleast then we do hope no other person loses a friend like we did.. nor do we find such devastated parents as his… such bus drivers must be condemed and they must not be allowed to drive more than a speed of 40km… well this will probably remain a dream till i die… but this is the least government could do to prevent more arjun’s from away… if you could publish an article about such incessent drivers and they turn a new leaf… that would be a gift enough to us… even of it will not hepl us get our dearest friend back..
