Community group of Ashok Nagar, K. K. Nagar celebrates its service

Chennai Metropolitan House Owners Association, founded by a few Ashok Nagar/K K Nagar based socially conscious residents, celebrated its first anniversary on April 12. The members met over snacks and coffee, at the Police Training College Auditorium. 

 

“The association works for safe guarding the residents’ interests on issues like property tax, water charges, mosquito menace, stray dog menace, traffic issues, Aavin milk issues and more”, said G. Subramaniam, President of the association.
Though late by an hour since he was caught in election work, city Mayor M. Subramaniam attended the event and briefed the members, the welfare measures undertaken by the Corporation. He said the property tax collection drive during the past year turned out very successful, without raising the taxes. “The defects of under assessment were rectified and that has made possible mopping up good revenues,” he said. 
Former Mayor of Chennai, a West Mambalam resident, Sa. Ganesan participated and spoke. His presence was a pleasant surprise to many who had assembled at the meeting. 
Dr. A Pichai, S. Rajamanickam, S. Senthilnathan – popular residents of the neighbourhood, who also render their professional advice to the association  spoke. 
“We have made our presence felt in the past year and have been successful in getting recognition by the Corporation to the issues we raised, and will move the stones little by little”, said Muthukrishnan, secretary.
