Kamala Theatre reopens with two screens

The thirty year old Kamala Theatre in Vadapalani underwent a complete make over and the redone complex was launched at a grand function last weekend. All the bidwigs of the film fraternity turned up for this event. The inaugural was a grand celebration arranged by the proprietor V N Chidambaram and his sons, CT Valliappan, CT Nagappan and CT Ganesan, on June 12.
Kamala Theatre now houses two screens, in place of the old one. The building, looks aesthetic in pleasing white and the lobby has a swank look to it as do the facilities.

Both the cinema halls – Screen 1, and Screen 2, on the ground floor and first,  have large lobbies, offering space for free movement and refreshment counters.

The air-conditioned cinema hall boasts of a lot of innovations and state of the art technology. It offers 70MM screen size with good digital sound. This digital sound comes to the audience with 12 on-stage JBL audio system and 18 Motorola surround sound system. The image is projected on the large screen by a state of the art Xenon lamp system which delivers a sharp crystal clear picture.

The huge space in the front of the theatre building provides ample parking facility for about 50 cars and 250 two wheelers.
Some more eateries will occupy the sides too, apart from a Sri Krishna Sweets outlet which existed inside.
Just now, only one screen has been activated and the second should come alive soon.
Online booking facility for cinema tickets will be available on www.kamalatheatre.com
The owners say that they have more ambitious plans for the future. Though many theatres have made way for malls and bazaars, Kamala’s promoters chose to stick to cinemas because they are passionate about films.
Kamala Theatre is at 156, Arcot Road, Vadapalani. Phones 23652000.
