New property buyers wonder if area will be flood-free

Reported by V. Dandapani
As people new to the area choose to buy apartments in the K K Nagar – Virugambakkam areas now, there are questions that some have forgotten to ask.
Will the area be safe from flooding?
The sketchy monsoon has not tested the local storm water and sewage system so the hardships that rains bring with them that K K Nagar residents experienced are mere memories now.
But they are being shared with people who come around as prospective buyers.
More so as new apartments blocks open in what was once the TNHB colonies.
Many families have occupied the new flats and feel that the problems can be negotiated.
Others are happy to see through the season.
The sceptics stay with their fears and that has dampened buyers.
Many buy the flats because there are decent schools and the city core is accessible. But many flats are still open for sale.
In some blcosk those who own the ‘second’ property for investment sake are keeping the flats still open – they are not getting the rentals they would love to have.
