Food Bazaar, E-Zone open at Chandra Mall

Finally, Chandra Mall in Virugambakkam has come alive. A new landmark on what used to be the plot on which the popular National Theatre stood.

Two big mall stores of the Future Group of Mumbai have opened.

Food Bazaar and E-zone. The first a store for all all the dry, semi dry and wet foodstuff and the second, for all your gadgets, entertainment and home-utility needs.

The first is on the lower level and the second on the first floor.

We dropped by a day before the formal launch that took place on Friday. Store manager Anand took us around, smiling despite his weary legs and long days of dry runs and soft opening.

The staff were still learning the tricks of dealing with customers. The store is the biggest in the city; spacious, well lit, has clear signage and easy to use sections.

It has the A to Z of your needs and some recent brands too on all shelves. Vegetables, fruits, groceries, dry food, snacks, toiletries, drinks, snacks, etc.

A nook for spices and after-dinner mukhwas is also in place alongside the bakery products.

Anand said more will be in place in a week’s time.

The early shoppers did some serious shopping and said they enjoyed the spaciousness and spread of products.

Kranthi Kumar, Marketing Head for Big Bazaar in Chennai says the location will bring in lots of shoppers.

Up there in E-zone, salesmen and women looked bored – they would when 20 TV sets of one brand beam the same channel and boom loudly!

The tweaking is on and the store will formally open soon, we were told
