Veteran sports journalist K K Nair passes away. He was also active leader at Sri Ayyappa Temple

Veteran sports journalist K K Nair, a resident of K K Nagar passed away on Wednesday, Feb.12. He was 82.

Nair was best known locally as an ardent bhakta of Sri Ayyappa and devoted all his senior years to the activities at the Sri Ayyappa Temple in the area, doing all he could even in the last weeks of his life.

Nair, from Kerala began his journalistic career in Kolkata for the Ananda Bazar Patrika, moved to Hindustan Times in Delhi and after a stint at the Madurai edition of the indian Express, moved to the paper’s Madras edition.

He covered all kinds of sport, especially football very closely and had a huge number of contacts in the sports world. He also trained scores of rookie journalists who cut their teeth at the Express, then the preferred training ground got media students.
