All set for polling on April 24

As evening fell, workers had done they had to do to set up the polling booths in the area as the city prepares to go out and vote in General Elections 2014. Since yesterday and this morning, they set in the furniture, dug in the poles to create sections for queues for the voters and used some tin plates to carve out some space.

In many places, shamans have been put up at the booths which will give shade to voters when they join the queue. With the summer temperature at 35 agrees plus this will be welcome if the queues get bigger.

Areas of K K Nagar, Vadapalani and Virugambakkam fall under the Chennai South constituency while the Valasarawakkam area falls under the Sriperumbudur constituency.

Polling opens at 7 am and closes only at 6 pm, not at 5 pm as it used to be in the past.
