Vadapalani hotel’s food fest offers best recipes of Tamil Nadu

Aspni Inn Hotel is inviting diners to its Chithirai Food Fest at its wholly renovated restaurant on the 100 Ft Road in Vadapalani. This fest, its managers say will showcase the diverse flavors of Tamil Nadu cuisine. For starters you cn choose from drumstick soup and nattu kozhi saru ( chicken soup ) and then move on to Karaikudi Mutton Biryani and the Nandu Masala ( crab pieces prepared with traditional masala from south Tamil Nadu).

The chef says this will offer you a spicy fare. Says T. Jeganathan Food and Beverage Manager, “We have collected authentic recipes that are popular in Tamil Nadu and had to choose those that would suit our guests.”

Cooked in mutton stalk and prepared in the Karaikudi style the Mutton Biryani promises to be the best.

For vegetarians there is paruppu urundai kozhambu ( a gravy made with ground Bengal gram kofta balls in tamarind pulp ) and sundakkai kozhambu.

More to follow on the subsequent days of this food fest are Chicken Chettinad, fish varuval, Nethili Fry, yera thokku, idiyappam, paniyaram, and kozhakattai.

Jeganathan says the desserts  include cheeni mittai, athirasam. Kuzhi paniyaram and paal payasam.

The 8 day festival is on at the Le Camry Restaurant till April 20. The special buffet it is available for lunch and dinner for Rs 299 + tax per person.
