Police officers transferred for not acting on time

Two police officers at the Valasarawakkam police station were transferred by the Police Commissioner last week after it was fouund that they did not act on time to handle the attack on the house of an actor who resides in the area though the police had sufficient intelligence information on this.

Both have been placed on the ‘waiting’ list.

Actor Jayaram’s house was attacked – his car and some furniture was damaged – by members of a pro-Thamizh group after he is said to have made uncivil remarks about his maid in an interview with a Malayalam TV channel.

He apologised for this later.

Police later slapped cases on another film person – actor-director Seeman – who heads the pro-Thamizh group. The miscreants belonged to this group.

Two others have taken Jayaram to court for his remarks.
