YMCA in Ashok Nagar plans for future

YMCA is mulling over plans to put up a brand new building on its campus in Ashok Nagar.

This Kodambakkam Unit is close to 50 years old.

It now has space for table tennis and chess on the ground floor and shuttle badminton on the top floor.

It also has tennis courts.

It has been suggested that the tennis court space can be used to construct a new building so that the sports activities in the present space do not get disturbed if and when the new project is undertaken.

The project may provide more space on a few floors so that billiards and such indoor games can be provided to members.

There are also plans to construct a set of furnished guest rooms that can be used by YMCA members as well as outsiders since there seems to be a demand for lodging and people may be willing to pay Rs.1000 plus.

The YMCA here now has a new head. Veteran Danial Alagesan who has been managing the campus for about 10 years is moving to Kilpauk and Edwin from Kottivakkam is taking charge.

Call YMCA at 2489 4077
