South Chennai: parties begin to announce candidates for poll

Things are warming up as far as Chennai city goes in the run up to the General Elections. Areas like K K Nagar and Virugambakkam now fall under Chennai South Lok Sabha costituency.

The DMK has said that it will contest this seat. It is yet to name its candidate. 

The DMDK led by actor Vijaykant has announced that V. Gopinath will be its candidate for this constituency. This party has chosen to go on its own.

It is not clear who will contest from the AIADMK Front side.

The BJP had put up its senior leader L. Ganesan as its candidate here.

Also, a chemical engineer and community activist, N S Venkataraman who lives in the Adyar neighbourhood is also planning to contest, chosen by a party that was started by freedom fighters.
