V’wakkam municipality okays contractor to build gasifier in cremation ground

The Valsarawakkam Municipality councillors met in the last week of May, after a gap of three months to discuss issues on local projects and to pass the subjects. The new building on Arcot Road that has now been occupied provided a smart ambience. 

The subject of identifying the contractor for executing the important and much awaited installation of a gasifier in Brindavan Nagar crematorium grounds was passed.

The lowest bid for the Rs. 60 lakh project by Jwala Equipments and Consultants won the contract for the work. The quote was 4.95% higher than the estimates.
The local play grounds, Periyar Thidal at Fathima Nagar and Arignar Anna Thidal, at Choudhry Nagar will be equipped with a 12 metre high mast lamp each, at a cost of Rs. 4 lakhs. 
Payment of Rs. 9.30 lakhs for the interior and furnishing work of the council hall was passed. 
Intercom facility will be provided for the various departments inside the municipal building. 
Steps will be initiated for e-governance facilities at the municipality. Quotations for a server, UPS, systems with 7 computers, printers, fax machines and software will be sought, and expenses to be met from the municipality general funds.
Repairing of water tanker lorries, providing uniforms and footwear for sanitary workers, a MUV for the engineering department’s supervision work and a water purifier at the municipalty office were approved by the council.
