Municipality to blacktop roads, improve ground in Choudhry Nagar, let out comml. complex

Valasarawakkam Municipality met on July 27, and the following resolutions were passed.

-  To get a suction cum jet rodding machine vehicle at a cost of Rs. 29.75 lakhs. This machine will move around in the municipality area to blow out the clogs in underground sewage drains.

-  To seek financial support from TN Government to develop the six ground municipality space behind the Lakshmi Magalir Mandram building on Plot No 116, of Gandhi Road.

- A commercial complex with a marriage hall, shops and offices to be let out on rent has been planned. Space to accomodate the Police Station and RTO may also be provided here. The Government is being approached for funds.

-   To blacktop roads in Kanakadhara Nagar and Thirupathi Nagar in ward 18, to lay concrete few roads, to build storm water drains on Gandhi Road, Radhakrishnan Road and Kamaraj Road, and culverts wherever required was passed at the meeting. The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 77 lakhs. Tenders will be called for soon.

-   Arignar Anna Vilayattu Thidal in Choudhary Nagar will be improved at a cost of Rs 10 lakhs with funds from CMDA. Some development with compound wall, walkers’ track and a library took place some time ago. Now, the space would get children’s play equipment and beautification works are also on the cards.

-  250 street lamp poles have been identified in the Valasarawakkam area without proper lights. These will fitted with lights 3X36 watts each.
