NCC cadet Parasuram from Chinmaya Vidyalaya gets top award

Chinmaya Vidyalaya has had a celebratory swing recently.

Reason – their student was awarded the title of Best Cadet in  Junior Division Boys of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar NCC Directorate.

The NCC contingent had taken part in the Republic Day march past where India’s president, prime minister and other VIPs were present in New Delhi.

The Republic Day parade was held at Garrison Parade Ground in Delhi and Dr. Manmohan Singh took the salute here.

M. Parasuram of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Virugambakkam emerged as the best cadet.

He was one of the NCC cadets representing 17 Directorates.

He is a class IX student who enrolled in the NCC in 2010.

His selection was based on the performance in Drill, Firing , Map Reading, Extempore round , GK and on personality test.

Apart from excelling in the programmes since October 2010 along with his 6 other batchmates, he had successfully completed the Cadet Training programme held .at various places this state.

2nd Officer, P. Shivkumar, Associate NCC Officer of the school and Principal P. Vijayalakshmi  say this development is a matter of pride for the school.

The award comprises a certificate, a trophy, a gold medal and a sum of Rs.5000, The  Tamilnadu government honoured him with a cash prize of 7000.
