Free cancer screening camp at Vadapalani Center

A free cancer detection programme open to the public is on at the Paterson Cancer Center in Vadapalani now.

It is on till June 28 and is open from 2 to 5 pm only.

The Paterson Cancer Center is a comprehensive cancer care center, inaugurated by the then President of India, Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, on the 19th of June 2003.

Paterson Cancer Center, under the auspices of Cancer Alleviation Foundation, provides free treatment for needy patients belonging to the lower economic strata of the society.

The programme was inaugurated by K. Subrahmanyam, General Manager, Indian Overseas Bank. T.A.Sekar, Head, Cricket GMR Sports presided over the function. R. Surendran, Head of the Department of Gastro-enterology, Stanley Medical College was also a guest speaker.

The programme was followed by public interaction with a panel of oncology specialists led by Dr. S. Vijayaraghavan, Managing Director & chief clinical oncologist, Paterson Cancer Center.

The free cancer detection camp allows all the candidates  to undergo a basic blood and urine workup, ultrasound, chest X ray, ECG, pap smear (for women), infrared mammogram (for suspected candidates) and biopsy or other specialized investigations (if required).

Specialists will followup on the cases.
