Chennai Metro; focus on creating easily accessible stations in Vadapalani, Ashok Nagar

While work gets going on the Metro Rail sector along the 100 Feet Road, Chennai Metro Rail Ltd. is also starting the process of looking at the layout, design and space and mobility access of local Metro stations.

While the Vadapalani station is bound to be a busy one. with access to all those who live on its west side and around it, the station in Ashok Nagar could well be a key hub.

Much of the basic structures for this station are in place since the land was easily set aside for it. Work at this place opposite Udhayam Theatre can be witnessed from the main road.

CMRL is keen to get Chennai Corporation to start its process of identifying land in the Metro station complex for access, parking and mobility.

They do not want the fate that has befallen the MRTS station lines where most stations are sprawling in space but ghost or smelly spaces in real and access is not easy at all – in that people who may want to get off at many stations on MRTS will not easily get to a MTC bus stop not are the stations fed by share autos and the like.
