Rashmeka; champ athlete in the making

Rashmeka Narayanan is a champ athlete with lots of promise. And she is leaving a mark on the field now.

The young woman has won a gold medal in the javelin throw athletics event at the 17th CBSE National Athletics Championships conducted by CBSE, Delhi & Vellammal Vidhyashram, Surapet, Chennai, at Vellammal Engineering College ground and at the Nehru Stadium Chennai in late December.

Athletes from CBSE schools from all over India and Gulf countries participated in the mega sports event.

Earlier she had won a gold medal in javelin throw in the National Women’s Sports competition at the local level conducted by Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai.

Rashmeka had earlier won a gold in javelin throw and in shot-put at the CBSE Cluster Inter School Sports & Games Meet held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai. Over 3,000 students from 145 schools in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry, participated.

She has also been excelling in shuttle badminton.

Apart from being a sportsperson, she has learnt Bharatanatyam under her guru Revathi Srinivasaraghavan of Nrityaranjani Fine Arts Academy and given many stage performances.

Rashmeka is being trained in Carnatic music under guru Sita Krishnamurty.

Her other interests are drawing, painting and craft. Rashmeka resides on Lakshmana Swami Salai, K K Nagar and attends B S Mootha School.
