Pork shop; for raw, cooked meat. In Valasarawakkam.

If you like to shop for good pork meat you may want to head to J M Pork Shop at the far end of Arcot Road on the Valasarawakkam limit.

Located off the main road just before the Naidu Hall and Maruti car showrooms on your right if you are traveling towards Porur, this is a small shop that has been around for some years.

It offers raw meat as well as cooked pork dishes and seems quite popular with people who love this meat.

The owner says he sources the meat from two places where piggery is run and managed well and one is the piggery at the Loyola College, Nungambakkam. He assures us that the pigs are not the ones that run in nullahs but well reared animals.

The meat is fresh on weekends and there is a huge crowd on Sundays when the shop opens after 8.30 a.m. specially for these clients.

A kilo costs Rs.260 while boneless is Rs.300 but prices can vary.

There is a takeaway service too – pepper, chettinad, vindaloo spicy and such variations of the meat, served in a ┬ájiffy. It make not be the pork cooked the Goan or Mangalorean way but is just fine.

You can also sit and eat here; they can make doses for you.
