Writer-activist Gnani is AAP’s man in Alandur constituency

GNANI IN POLLWellknown journalist, playwright, activist and public speaker Gnani Sankaran who resides in K K Nagar has thrown his cap in the election ring.

He recently joined the AAP party ( Aam Admi Party) and was chosen as its candidate for the Alandur by-election to the TN State Assembly which will be held alongside the General Elections in late April.

The seat was held by the PMK’s Panruti Ramachandran who resigned, quit the DMDK and joined the AIADMK.

Gnani has already begun to deploy a variety of campaigns including a strong one on social media and is asking clubs, local community associations and community groups to host face-to-face meetings to discuss local issues and encourage a grassroot campaign.

Alandur which flanks the Ekkaddthangal-West KK Nagar zone as well as areas off St Thomas Mount is a typically middle-class area.

Gnani has been, with film maker Balaji Sakthivel holding the Keni meetings in his residence which is close to PSBB School, where scholars, writers, artists and film makers address guests in the open, sitting around a well.
