Man arrested for running prostitution service in Saligramam

A lorry driver has been arrested by the city police for running a prostitution service in Saligramam. This is the third time that this man has been picked up for this offence.

In the recent case, police, acting on a tip-off raided a house in Saligramam where the driver and two women were found.

It is said that the driver had a way of getting closer to women during his driving assignments and he would lure them into the call girls trade.

In the past, people running the calls girls trade have been operating out of houses in the Virugambakkam-Valasarawakkam area. These operators prefer to rent small, independent houses in quiet colonies so that they are away from prying eyes or gossipy neighbours. In some cases, these operators also pay good rents and house-owners rent out their places without checking the antecedents of the people renting the house or apartment.

In some cases, operators are known to lure young women who rent out in this area to seek roles in films and when the wait tests their patience they fall into a trap.
