Colours of Sri Vinayaka Chathurti

ART VC 4Markets in many areas are fading away but it is at a market that you can feel the spirit of a festival. And so it was on the eve of Sri Vinayaka Chathurti at the markets of Vadapalani, near Sri Murugan Temple, the market in MGR Nagar which also caters to K K Nagarites and the Kaliamman Koil Street buzz place which is reduced to a few hawkers and shops.

Hawkers set up stalls all over the area, many offering simple clay images of the god.  In a few places, large images were set up on stages for public prayer.
