The spirit of Onam fest sets in . .

ART POOKOLAMThe mood of the festival of Onam that is celebrated in Kerala set it late last week as people began to mark the first day of the ten day fest on Friday, the day Sri Vinayaka Chathurti was also celebrated.

At the Sri Ayyappa Temple in K K Nagar, people were greeted by a poo-kalam designed in the visual of Ganesha.

On Sunday, Kalakairali, a community group of Keralites based in the Arcot Road region is judging poo-kalams designed by families at their homes. Judges will visit houses of those who signed up for this contest.

The area has a good number of Keralites living here and at least 3 bodies that are for them; each has its own Onam events.

A Onam evening of cultural events, fun events and lunch/dinner is planned but that may well be held after Onam is celebrated on Sept.7, Sunday.

<< You can shoot pics of Onam events in your area / home and mail them to this newspaper!!
